TLoA - A Smile for the 100th Page by kessir TLoA - A Smile for the 100th Page by kessir
Smileeee~~~~~

With this I wana see THANK YOU SO MUCH to everyone that's stuck with me through the past 100 Pages of The Lullaby of Al'Sura :3 Onto 100x100 more! :iconyesyoucanplz:okay I admit tLoA won't ever be that long, I promise XD

This one can be downloaded and used as Wallpaper, it has the right resolution for 16:9 (sorry for all those with 4:3 monitors, it'll probably look terrible there ;^;

I didn't actually intend to ever do something like this, but somehow the event of having reached 100+ pages without faltering makes tLoA my biggest project so far. Since some people have told me they wanted to see Keehva smile for once, I asked Duhliya to make him :3
I actually suppose, though, that her real reaction to Keehva smiling would bemore like :iconduhliyawutplz:

At first I hadnt actually planned on adding Duhliya's classmates in the bg at all, but somehow this picture without that crowd made me very "thirsty" for green (really, i cant describe it otherwise, whenever I looked at this i felt a strong thirst and a strong desire to see green in this picture). Since Pachaill is green, i figured I could just as well place more characters on this picture to at least make it seem like Al'Sura was actually inhabited. Since it's been asked for to show the colors of the rest of the cast, too, i figured I'd reintroduce them this way again, since I have missed to properly introduce each one of them at the beginning of Chapter 1. From Left to Right:
Rotaras, a white Suja (yes, completely white).
Ertacc, a light-red Suja (She's not a red Suja, though, more of a mix of a red and a white Suja). She's been introduced as "Aerthach" on the first few pages before, but that was the azyri way of spelling, before I had made a phonetic list for how the Sujan language was supposed to sound, so I had to change her name slightly.
Satoreos, a blue Suja.
Pachaill, a green Suja.
Followed by Duhliya and Keehva, but you should know them by now, and Tenneth, a black Suja.
Even if it doesn't seem like it yet, they will take a greater role in tLoA later on ;P So yes, I have put much thought into their character/design as well as colors. Dont worry, all will be revealed in due time :3
I really wanted to put Tzena somewhere into this, too, but I think this pic is already crowded enough as it is, really XD

Another thing about their coloration: I know Duhliya and Tzena had pinkish skin between the scales back on the fullcolored page 32 [link] , however I had on the way decided that the blood in Za is generally black for most races. Thus having a humane-skintone would probably be unlikely. So I settled for white in the end, as it was the most logical for me :P Its also the reason they have grey tongues instead of red ones.

And since this is also the first fullcolor visualized form of Al'Sura, heres some detail on the Background:
The houses in Al'Sura are all made of mixtures of clay and wood, but the clay part is obviously greater than the wood. Since sandstorms are rather rare in that region, they have no need for glass or any kind of shelter in their windows. SO instead, they built in the common wood-supports, which are often arranged to resemble syllables from the Sujan alphabet, creating words (if one cares to read the word by walking once around the entire house XD).
The city of Al'Sura itself is leveled in some places by low cliffs, which some even used to include in the architecture of their houses. A normal Sujan house can only be two stories high, as the clay wont support more weight (houses that need to be higher need to have a first story stabilized with alot of wood or stone). Thus the houses in the background are actually situated ontop of a cliff, and aren't any kind of skyscrapers.
That tree in the background is an Eccet fad'Sol (means "Hands of the nightly sky"), also featured before on (but upsidedown). The Tree is the Sujan sacred tree, thus theres always at least one in every Sujan settlment, Al'sura even has 4-5, at least one always being withing sight range wherever in the city you stand.

I got to say, the addition of colors on the background characters added a whole lot to the overall color-scheme- doesn't seem so snowy now. Never know Tenneth from the initial pages to be such the playful type but ok. lol

The details on the buildings and objects (especially the cloths and that bit of brown grass/hay and the root its on at the front) are great. Sort of wish the water had been hand-drawn though, as it looks a bit stiff compared to the rest of the greatness.

Lol I dunno if Tenneth would actually ever be really so Playful, but i thought I can put him a little out of character for this since Duhliya obviously is too. XD

Oh, and the water is actually handdrawn. With a dotful brush, though, but handdrawn XD Just not so well i gues :< At some point it only bothered me so much that i started ignoring it.
