Had this one lying around semi-done for like 2 month now. I just couldn't decide what to do with the background to do the title justice, until I recently rewatched the anime "Jungle Book shonen Mowgli", which has increadible beautiful sunset scenes. So i tried to do something like that lawl. But thistime, unlike in my artwork Afterglow ([link]) I tried to use more reds, less details on the plains and pay attention to something our art-teacher once told us: "Light becomes the most interesting, when it is hidden by shadows". Even though she told us alot of shit, in this case i gues she was right. So I tried to do alot more sillouhets. I didnt quite have the courage to put something shady directly infront of the sun though, i'm a coward I gues ...
Anyway, to the character: His name is Imparu, the youngest of the three Shenta brothers, to whom Xander and Keehva from my former Window-Series count. In his case, he's obviously the Shenta ta Fyrin, meaning as much as "keeper of the guardian of Fire". His mother, the goddess of day, has given him the sun Empyrean as a gift, to do justice to the gift his father made to Keehva (who recieved the big blue moon Denno). But appart from mentaly knowing that she sun belongs to him he can't actually do anything with it though. Like his eldest brother Keehva, he lives further away from a town, together with his friends and also Shenta ta's Tunay and Enzian, Keesha, a merchant, and Nii, an escort, in a place called the dome, protected by a huge tree and a little magic. To earn for a living, he usualy helps on the fields when time for harvest has come or helps out merchants on their salery in Wynbern, the largest trading town in the region. If he doesn't find work to do, he spends his time stealing from people who are new in Wynbern. He later finds Andany in a river and takes her to the dome. Even though neither of them can understand each other, he's the closest of friends to Andany at the beginning. Nothing special can be said about his clothes. Unlike his brother Keehva, he has the money to buy himself some new stuff from time to time, and unlike Xander he doesn't need to be gorgeously apparelled, thus he wears clothes of a simple peasant or adventurer, acording to the case.
Once again, alot of random stuff. I think i should call this part of the description "random facts about the character in this piece, which no one actually cares about" or something XD.
While Im unsure if the artist intended it, I love the awkwardness shown in the character's facial expression. It gives me a sense of an accidental use of his powers which makes it all the more dynamic of a picture.
The smoke seen at the subject's feet is a bit awkward for this style, but the composition is especially refreshing nonetheless. The character "breaking the frame" adds to the character's action which is intended for the scenery behind him.
Your choice to go into the vein of orange hues takes away from the fire in some areas but enhances it in the fire that appears directly in front of the torso. Very good choice of lighting.
Yeah, I took some time to take a stroll through your gallery. Although I'm not a fan of anthropomorphic art I must admit that you are very skilled in drawing.
